Domenico Pievani, nato nel 1953, vive e lavora a Bergamo (I).
si diploma in Scenografia Teatrale e studia Scultura all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milano.
In diversi periodi tra il 1978 e il 1981 partecipa, in Italia e in Polonia, su invito di Teo Spychalski, ai progetti di Jerzy Grotowski e del Teatro Laboratorio per il Progetto Montagna ed il Teatro delle Sorgenti.
Dal 1975 al 2011 è stato Docente di Discipline Architettoniche al Liceo Artistico Statale di Bergamo.
Dal 1976 si dedica sistematicamente alla scultura e alle installazioni.
Nel 1981–82 fa parte del Gruppo Internazionale l’Avventura, Centro di Cultura Attiva il Porto, Volterra.
Dal 1981 al 1992, parallelamente al lavoro di scultura e alle installazioni, crea e dirige un programma di ricerca nell’ambito delle arti performative denominato Teatro di Silenzio – Drama Studio. All’interno di questo programma realizza progetti performativi per: Associazione Teatrale Lund (S), Scuola d’Arte Superiore Leeuwarden (NL), Associazione Il Comballo e Teatro della Società Lecco, Assessorato alla Cultura Piacenza, Casa Laboratorio Cenci Amelia, Teatro Sarya Sassari, Atelier Il Passaggio Ferrara, Teatro due mondi Faenza, Scuola D’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi Milano.
Nel 1988 è invitato a presentare il suo lavoro con un Laboratorio al Festival Internazionale del Teatro di S. Arcangelo.
Nel 1995 è selezionato per il progetto Transfer, promosso dal segretariato per le attività culturali del Land Nordrhein-Westfalen (D), e soggiorna con una borsa di studio al Museo Ludwig Forum di Aachen. Nell’ambito di tale progetto, espone al Museo Ludwig Forum, alla Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, al Castello di Rivara (TO), nella Chiesa di S. Agostino a Bergamo, al Kunstpalast im Ehrenhof di Düsseldorf, alla Stadtische Ausstellungshalle am Hawerkamp di Münster. Realizza inoltre un’installazione in situ nella Chiesa della Maddalena a Bergamo.
In questo periodo inizia la sua collaborazione con la Galleria Koma di Mons (B) che continua ancora oggi e che negli anni ha visto la realizzazione di differenti progetti artistici e di scambio tra il Belgio e l’Italia.
Nel 1995 realizza opere in situ all’Abattoir di Mons (B). Nel 1997, su invito di Susanne Windelen, espone presso Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems (D). Nel 1998 tiene un ciclo di lezioni all’Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti di Bergamo e realizza, con Enrico De Pascale e Jochen Fischer, un progetto di scambio tra gli studenti dell’Accademia Carrara di Belle Arti e della J.W. Goethe Universität di Francoforte.
Nel 2000 realizza un’opera in situ nell’ambito del Festival “La XII Nuit Culturelle”, per l’Università di Nancy, e nello stesso anno partecipa alla mostra Eurohood II al “GAMES of Art”, Mönchengladbach (D).
Nel 2003, su invito di Jochen Fischer, allestisce una personale alla Ausstellungshalle dell’Università J.W. Goethe di Francoforte (D), e nello stesso anno è invitato alla mostra storico-antologica Arte a Bergamo 1970-1981, a cura di GAMeC e dell’Accademia Carrara presso il Palazzo della Ragione di Bergamo.
Nel 2006, per l’esposizione MigraAzioni, realizza un’installazione nel Palazzo del Broletto, Novara (I).
Nel 2010 partecipa alla mostra BABEL al Museo Ianchelevici, La Louvière,(B).
Nel 2011 tiene una personale a L’Ecole des Arts di Braine-L’Alleud.(B). Nel 2012, all’interno del Festival “Les voies de la liberté” è invitato a esporre al Centre Culturel d’Ottignies e al Forum des Halles dell’Università Cattolica di Louvain (B).
Nel 2013 realizza un’installazione in situ per Lieux Communs, Spazio per l’Arte Contemporanea, presso la stazione di Namur (B).
Nel 2014 realizza per la mostra Il Silenzio e l’Attesa un’installazione in situ al Convento dell’Annunciata, Rovato, Brescia.
Nel 2015 all’interno del progetto L’Art dans la Ville tiene un’esposizione personale nel Beffroi di Tournai (Belgio), per l’occasione crea delle opere sites pecific. In occasione del Free International Forum 5 su invito di Lucrezia De Domizio Durini realizza un’opera come segnale stabile dedicata a Joseph Beuys, da collocare all’interno della Piantagione Paradise in Bolognano (PE).
Nel 2016 con Jochen Fischer e Susanne Windelen presenta un’antologica del suo lavoro alla Galerie del Stadt di Sindelfingen (D) e una selezione di opere nella sala della Porta di San’Agostino a Bergamo.
Ha esposto le sue opere in spazi pubblici, gallerie e musei in Italia, Grecia, Francia, Germania e Belgio.

Domenico Pievani, born in 1953, lives and works in Bergamo (I).
He graduated Theatre Design and studied Sculpture at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan.
At various times between 1978 and 1981, he was invited by Teo Spychalski to take part in the Jerzy Grotowski and the Theatre Laboratory projects Mountain Project and Theatre of Sources, in Italy and in Poland.
From 1975 to 2011 he was professor in Architecture at the Liceo Artistico in Bergamo.
Since 1976 he has dedicated himself systematically to sculpture and installations.
In 1981–2 he was part of the Volterra Gruppo Internazionale l’Avventura, Centro di Cultura Attiva il Porto.
From 1981 to 1992, in parallel with his sculptures and installations, he created and directed the Teatro di Silenzio – Drama Studio research programme in the field of performing arts. As part of this programme he developed performance projects for: Lunds teaterförening, Lund (S); Stenden Hogeschool, Leeuwarden (NL); Associazione Il Comballo e Teatro della Società, Lecco; Assessorato alla Cultura, Piacenza; Casa Laboratorio Cenci, Amelia; Teatro Sarya, Sassari; Atelier Il Passaggio, Ferrara; Teatro Due Mondi, Faenza; Scuola D’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi, Milan.
In 1988 he was invited to present his corpus for a workshop at the Sant’Arcangelo Festival Internazionale del Teatro.
In 1995 he was chosen for the Transfer project promoted by the Secretariat for Cultural Activities of the Nordrhein-Westfalen Land (D) and was able to stay there thanks to a bursary awarded by Aachen’s Museum Ludwig Forum. As part of this project, he exhibited at the Museum Ludwig Forum, Bologna’s Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Castello di Rivara (Turin), church of Sant’Agostino (Bergamo), and the Münster Stadtische Ausstellungshalle Hawerkamp. He also produced a site-specific installation for Bergamo’s Maddalena church. During this time he began working with the Koma Gallery of Mons (B), and continues today. Over the years, a number of art projects and exchanges have been completed between Belgium and Italy.
In 1995, he created a site-specific installation in the Abattoir, Mons (B). In 1997, at the invitation of Susanne Windelen, he exhibited at Schloss Balmoral, Bad Ems.
In 1998 he held a series of lectures at the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts in Bergamo, and with Enrico De Pascale and Jochen Fischer organized an exchange project between the students of the Carrara Academy and the J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt.
In 2000 he produced a site specific installation as part of the “La Nuit Culturelle XII” Festival for the University of Nancy, and in the same year he participated in the Eurohood II exhibition at the Mönchengladbach (D) GAMES of Art. In 2003, invited by Jochen Fischer, he exhibited solo at the J.W. Goethe University Ausstellungshalle, Frankfurt (D), and in the same year he was invited to take part in the historical-anthological show, Arte a Bergamo 1970–1981, curated by GAMeC and the Carrara Academy at the Palazzo della Ragione in Bergamo.
In 2006, for the exhibition MigraAzioni, he created an installation for Palazzo del Broletto, Novara (I).
In 2010 he participated in the BABEL exhibition at the Musée Ianchelevici, La Louvière, (B).
In 2011 he held a solo exhibition at L’Ecole des Arts, in Braine-L’Alleud (B).
In 2012, for the “Les Voies de la Liberté” Festival he was invited to exhibit at the Centre Culturel d’Ottignies and the Forum des Halles of the Catholic University of Louvain (B).
In 2013 he created a site specific installation for Lieux Communs, a space for contemporary art at Namur (B) railway station.
In 2014, for the exhibition Il Silenzio e l’Attesa he produced a site specific installation for the Convento dell’Annunciata, Rovato, Brescia.
In 2015, during the project L’Art dans la Ville holds a personal exhibition in Tournai’s civic tower (Belgium), in that occasion he creates site specific artworks. For the Free International Forum 5 invitated by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini he realize a permanent artwork dedicated to Joseph Beuys, inside Piantagione Paradise in Bolognano Pescara (I).
In 2016 with Jochen Fischer and Susanne Windelen presents an anthology of his work at Galerie del Stadt di Sindelfingen (D) and his artworks selection in the exhibition space of Porta Sant’Agostino in Bergamo (I).
He has exhibited his works in public spaces, galleries and museums in Italy, Greece, France, Germany and Belgium.
